The Mission of the NOAA Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center is to conduct research congruent with the interests of NOAA Fisheries and to prepare students for careers in research, management, and public policy that support the sustainable harvest and conservation of our nation's living marine resources.

The LMRCSC is a partnership led by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with Savannah State University, Hampton University, Delaware State University, The University of Miami's Rosentiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, and the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science at IMET.

Research activities of the Center fall into three thematic areas and is a collaborative effort among researchers from the partner institutions and NOAA Fisheries staff. The thematic areas of research are: Fisheries Socioeconomics, Quantitative Fisheries, Essential Fish Habitat, and Aquaculture.
